Where are you from?
I was born in paris and grown up it the north of the town, and sylvain in the south of france, in the woods.
we met five years ago in toulouse (south of france) and now we are living in Paris near the cemitarary le pere lachaise

What do you sound like?
An early morning walk in the woods?

How would you define your band?
I like to create a fictive land where ghosts and liquid sounds meet

Where does your name come from?
From an english grand grandfather (atkinson) and from the brain of my parents (felicia)

When did the band start?
We decided to travel together in fall 2004 from to washington dc to quebec city with the canadian band below the sea, and for this occasion i wrote "roman anglais" and sylvain found the music to play with it. it came from an improv we did one afternoon.

it's me (felicia atkinson) and sylvain chauveau (guitar)

What are your influences?
Music: low, palace, smog, cat power, sonic youth, yo la tengo, gustave fauré, morton feldman, arvo part...

Extra-musical influences?
Movies: l avventura, l eclisse, persona, mystery train...
Beverages: tea, wine, whysky
Places: paris, chicago, montreal, providence, middlesex, aberdeen...
Books; mallarme, ee cummings, jacques roubaud, olivier cadiot, sylvia plath , marina tsvetaieva...

What are your gigs like?
A dreamy moment: words, images, appears softly, in the middle of the sounds, with just a few lights

Have you released any record/EP?
Our first album " roman anglais" will be out on o'rosa soon
sylvain solo's records are on the label type and fat cat
i have to other projects stretchandrelax where i play with objects ( on nowaki, rainmusic, and mandorla), and louisville (firts album out in march on " de bruits et de silences")

How did the recording sessions go?
We recorded a part of "roman anglais "in montreal, and the other part in paris. each time at a friend's place.
I like to record in places i feel safe and warm .

What methods do you use to get people to listen to your music?
It's good if people fall asleep when they listen to it, it means that they get drowned into!

What are your plans for the near future?
Tour more, record a new lp, maybe in chicago

How's the scene in your city?
it could be better. a lot of places or closing. not enough places for experimental music. but they are some very good people who do a good work.

How do you feel about the music scene in your country related to the media?
i don 't really care. i dont specially want to represent my country.
