Where are you from?
Im from little village called Wootton in Bedfordshire in the UK.

What do you sound like?
I think it sounds like a little exploration into pop music. Subtle beats and clicks, mixed with recorded instruments and synthetic sounds. And then a few with me singing over the top. Its pretty calm to listen to, but I feel thats when your emotions can kinda run wild and be let loose.

How would you define your band?
Just a guy who trys capture a moment or a specific feeling through making songs about them.

Where does your name come from?
Always, since I've been a kid I've been interested in the sky at night. When everyone seems to go to sleep all these immense little lights come alive almost, and there is so much activity as well in the sky. So the name Rigil came about from the names of stars, there are a few with the first name of Rigil.

When did the band start?
I started making music with computers when I was around 15, but it didnt really sound like what I am making now. It was pretty electronic, heavy on the synths and beats, and without vocals on any tracks. It was when I started to record my voice, just singing one note, and messing around with it, and layering it that I started to kind of find the style of music I wanted to create.

Who are the band members?
Its only me. I can work with others when creating music, but I am so self critical that I can find it hard to express myself through music when working with others. I get a little embarrassed.

What are your influences?
I think growing up listening to bjork has had a major influence on my music. She has this whole musical web surrounding her, and when I was younger I used to explore everyone she had worked with and listen to their own stuff or other projects. It opened up a whole lot of new music to me, and I dived into it. I really love artists who just go for it and make their own music, something a little different.

Extra-musical influences?
I love photography. I suppose that my music has the same aim as a photograph as they too try to capture a specific moment.

What are your gigs like?
I havent done many gigs, but they are more sit down and chilled out with twinkling lights.

Have you released any record/EP?
Ive been involved in a couple of compilations, but my album 'Concertina Heart' has a release date of March next year which is pretty exciting.

How did the recording sessions go?
The recording of sounds and things were all done at home as the tracks were being made. It was just the vocals that I actually went to a little studio on a farm to record. I had never done anything like that before and I was pretty nervous, but fun at the same time. Its been a great experience to see and hear the tracks come together.

What methods do you use to get people to listen to your music?
I just put my music out there really if I can, mainly on the internet with myspace and a few other sites, and then just let people stumble across it.

What are your plans for the near future?
I should really be getting out there and doing a few more gigs, so that would be a plan for the near future, plus I need to buy some bread.

Who would you like to work with? (musician, film-maker, designer, etcetera)
I would really like to work with Siobhan Donaghy. She is one of the little pop starletts that are making different sounds, sort of dreamscapey pop. I'd love to work with styrofoam too, his beats are beautiful.

How's the scene in your city?
Pretty none existant for anything that isnt a four man guitar band. There are a few good club nights and open mic nights where you get to see some interesting stuff, but the music in bedford is a little obvious and boring.

How do you feel about the music scene in your country related to the media?
I think in the UK there are so many people who are helping to make this new type of meaningfull pop music get noticed. I think the mainstream media has all got a bit stagnant. There is nothing new, everythings been repeated so many times, which is why people are turning off their radio's. The playlists for the bigger stations are so limiting. People are going out of their way now to find new music, something that excites them again, and I think that that is really good thing. The big radio stations need to catch up with the more modern listeners.

Name 5 bands you love and no one seems to have ever heard of:
Bishi // Frankmusik // King Seven // M83 //Ratatat.
